Designer’s Table: Interior Design Workshop Create a Moodboard for your Interior Design Project

Since setting up our interior design studio almost 10 years ago, we have worked with over 250 London homeowners at various stages of their projects. Not everyone needs or wants the ongoing help of an interior designer, but we know that many appreciate some professional guidance and advice at certain stages of a refurbishment or redecoration project, which is why we have set up Designer's Table.

In this workshop, we explored moodboards as an important tool for designing the look and feel of interior spaces. Each of our 10 guests was encouraged to bring photos and floorplans of their project with the aim to create a moodboard relating to the room(s) they were refurbishing/redecorating. With a mix of kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms and bedrooms being designed by our guests, we looked at a range of surface materials, fabrics and, wallpapers and paint colours to form the basis of our moodboards.

We also offered advice on a variety of issues which our guests had encountered while working on their interior design project to date. Some of the questions included:

- ‘I love eclectic interiors but my partner likes minimal, sleek spaces. How can we incorporate both of our seemingly conflicting tastes?’

- ‘We are doing a kitchen extension and are unsure of what flooring to put down, the rest of the house is a mix of engineered wood and carpet. Would floor tiles feel cold and clinical? We could try to match up the existing wood floor but have no idea where to start and don’t really know what other options are out there!’

- ‘We’ve just had the master bedroom redecorated but it still feels uninspiring, we don’t have the budget for new furniture or curtains however would love to bring in some new colours somehow. What would you suggest?’

By the end of the workshop, each of our guests had created a physical moodboard to take home with them and had picked up a variety of tips and tricks to help them on their interior design journey!

Here’s what our enthusiastic guests had to say about the event:

“I think it’s a brilliant idea for people who need the one-off ‘help’ moment. Would recommend.”

“It was excellent, really good to have all the ideas – definitely would do it again!’

“Inspirational opportunity to dip a toe in!”
